The setting and my fellow travelers gently allowed me to rediscover my joy.

Cumberland Island, so inviting in its March mildness, is a place of great enchantment: live oak forests, long beaches, beautiful white sand dunes. Early morning beach walks offer exquisite sunrise skies over the open Atlantic. Wild horses, armadillos, and pelicans are common sights. Some of the inland trails lead to ruins of great estates where one can begin to imagine the island’s rich human history. Our group meets at the Jacksonville airport (FLA) and camps at the Crooked River State Park in St. Marys, Georgia on the first night. A morning ferry ride on the Cumberland Queen brings us to Sea Camp a short walk from our secluded campsite in a songbird-filled forest. As with other Two Roads trips, there are opportunities to explore together, to spend time alone, and to share our experiences in council.
